Man Wanted On Parole Violation Found Driving Stolen Car On Rt. 287: Police

Larry Simms, 40, was arrested after police briefly pursued him Saturday night, authorities said.

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — A man wanted for parole violation was arrested after a brief police pursuit on Route 208 Saturday night, authorities said.

Larry Simms, 40, of Asbury Park was arrested after police tried to check on a suspicious vehicle on Route 208, said Police Capt. John Bakelaar.

The officers determined the vehicle had been stolen out of Newark Thursday; a brief pursuit occurred on Interstate 287 where Simms pulled the vehicle to the side of the road, Bakelaar said.

Police later determined that Simms was wanted on a parole violation, the captain said. Simms was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

Simms was charged with motor vehicle theft, eluding, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, making an unsafe lane change and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, Bakelaar said.
