Medicine Drop Box Installed At Wyckoff Police HQ

Residents may drop off any unused prescription medications at the box.

WYCKOFF, N.J. — A box that is part of the Project Medicine Drop initiative was installed at police headquarters Monday.

Residents may drop off unused prescription medications at the box weekdays 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Project Medicine Drop is part of the New Jersey Attorney General's effort to stop the epidemic of prescription drug abuse, most notably opiate painkillers.

"Wyckoff's participation in Project Medicine Drop makes it easier and more convenient than ever for Wyckoff residents to take an active role in the fight against the nationwide epidemic of opiate and heroin abuse, which often is fueled by the abuse of prescription painkillers," Wyckoff officials said in a press release.

The State Division of Consumer Affairs has installed hundreds of boxes at police departments, sheriff's offices, and State Police barracks throughout the state.
