Man Caught With $67K, Fentanyl In Jeep In Bergen Co.: Prosecutor

Fermin A. Castillo, 38, was stopped on Route 3 West in East Rutherford as part of an investigation, authorities said.

A Miami man was charged with money laundering and possession of Fentanyl after $67,000 and some of the substance was found in his vehicle Friday, authorities announced.

Members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office stopped a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Fermin A. Castillo was driving on Route 3 West in East Rutherford, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.

Authorities searched the Jeep and found the money and Fentanyl in an electronically-operated hidden compartment in the Jeep's back floor, Calo said.

Castillo was charged with third-degree money laundering and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Fentanyl, Calo said. He is due in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court July 25.
