Motorist Hits Tree, Is Charged With DWI: Wyckoff Police

WYCKOFF, N.J. — A man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he struck a tree and left the scene Thursday night, police said.
Police responded to Godwin and Demarest avenues just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Daniel Murphy.
Sgt. James Bakelaar found the vehicle on Demarest Avenue. After speaking with police, the driver, Daniel J. Dasilva, 44, was charged with driving with intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, and refusal to submit to a breath test, Murphy said.

Dasilva is scheduled to appear in Wyckoff Municipal Court May 18.
