NJ Driver Charged In Fatal GW Bridge Crash: Prosecutor

A Fairview man has been charged with vehicular homicide following a crash that killed two people last week.

FAIRVIEW, NJ — A Fairview man has been charged with vehicular homicide after his speeding Corvette crashed into the back of another car on the George Washington Bridge, killing two people from the Bronx.

Charles R. Wilson, 45, of Fairview, was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of vehicular homicide.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said Wilson was driving at "a recklessly high rate of speed" when he crashed into the back of another vehicle.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Port Authority Police responded to a two-car crash on the lower level of the bridge shortly before 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

A Honda was stopped in the center median with "severe side and rear damage" while a Corvette was stopped in the right lane with front-end damage.

Police pronounced the passenger of the Honda, Bisere Frluckaj, 47, Bronx, New York, dead at the scene.

The driver, Muharem Frluckaj, 52, also of the Bronx, was transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, but died a short time later, authorities said.

Wilson sustained minor injuries and was transported to Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck.

His first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court is pending, the Prosecutor's Office said.
