Filmmaker Will Shoot Independent Movie At Popular Bergen County Restaurant
Crews are preparing to shoot a film in a popular restaurant in Bergen County in late June.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A group of New Jersey-based filmmakers plan to shoot their next project in and around Wyckoff, and they're looking for a little help.
They'll be filming at the Barn Original restaurant in Wyckoff on June 29, said producer Rob Asaro.
The Barn was originally built in 1779 as a dairy barn, and was converted to a speakeasy in the late 1920s. "The bar is built from an old farm wagon and still stands," the restaurant says on its website.

Asaro, who grew up in Parsippany, will be shooting the short film "Denim."
Asaro described the movie as a "surreal road drama about a man who drives cross-country to reclaim a stolen denim jacket, only to find himself descending into an increasingly strange and dangerous Colorado landscape.

"As his journey unfolds, a series of unsettling encounters force him to confront obsession, identity, and the lingering memories of who he once believed himself to be."
Asaro said the crew will also film in Montclair and Parsippany.
He told Patch that he chose The Barn because "I scouted locations. This one had the right look. Very original. It matches the vibe of the film."
He noted that hopeful actors can participate.
"[We] are currently seeking background talent of all types, ages 18 and up, to participate in the shoot, but actors must sign up before time," he noted.
Actors won't be paid, but "This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in film production, acting, or simply being part of an independent movie shoot. This project shoots in New Jersey and Colorado this summer. Lunch will be provided."

Asaro hopes to complete the film this year and enter it in film festivals in 2027, where it can win awards and be seen by potential distributors.
