8-5-2020

On Aug. 5, at approximately 11:15 p.m., P.O. John Rafferty and P.O. Kyle Scherm responded to Wyckoff Avenue and Goffle Road on a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arriving they observed a vehicle had left the roadway and driven onto the railroad tracks. The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Mathew Mahler, Waldwick NJ, age; 25. He was transported into headquarters and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and possession of open alcoholic beverage containers in a motor vehicle. He was released to the custody of a family member and his vehicle was impounded and held for 12 hours under John’s Law.

8-12-2020

On Aug. 12, at approximately 12:30 a.m., P.O. Robert Schlossberg observed a black Dodge Caravan bearing a fictitious temporary registration travelling on Route 208 North. The vehicle was stopped, and the subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Monie Reyes, Prospect Park NJ, age; 19. He was transported into headquarters and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, maintenance of lamps, and fictitious license plates. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court.

8-15-2020

On Aug. 15, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Sgt. Kyle Ferreira and P.O. John Rafferty were dispatched to Stop & Shop on a report of a shoplifter being detained by loss prevention officers. The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Michael McIlveen, Midland Park NJ, age; 49. He was transported into headquarters and charged with one count of shoplifting, a disorderly person’s offense. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court.

On Aug. 15 at approximately 11:30 p.m., P.O. Kyle Scherm observed a black Mercedes-Benz travelling on Route 208 South in excess of the posted speed limit and being operated in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped, and the subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of John Diaz, Paramus NJ, age; 29. He was transported into headquarters and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and refusal to submit to breath samples. He was released to the custody of a family member pending a court date. His vehicle was impounded and held for twelve hours under John’s Law.

8-21-2020

On Aug. 21, at approximately 5:00 p.m., P.O. Robert Schlossberg was dispatched to Russell Avenue on a report of motor vehicle crash. Upon arriving, he observed a Jeep Wrangler had overturned and was resting on its roof. The operator of the Jeep and several witnesses reported that a second unknown vehicle had crossed over the double yellow line, struck the Jeep, causing it to roll over, and fled the scene. While investigating, P.O. Michael Scalise discovered debris that indicated the vehicle that fled the scene was a Mitsubishi Montero. The information on the Montero was broadcast to surrounding towns and the vehicle was stopped by the Hackensack Police Department. The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Sabrina Y. Zegarra, Paterson NJ, age; 21. She was transported into headquarters and charged with driving while under the influence, failure to keep right, careless driving, reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended license, unregistered motor vehicle, operating an unsafe vehicle, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, and failure to report a motor vehicle crash. She was also served with criminal complaints for being under the influence of a controlled substance without a prescription and assault by motor vehicle. Zegarra was found to have several outstanding warrants and was transported to the Bergen County Jail upon her release from headquarters. The driver of the Jeep reported having minor injuries.

8-22-2020

On Aug. 22, at approximately 3:00 a.m., P.O. James Bakelaar, P.O. Kaitlyn Maglione, and P.O. Kevin Oldewurtel responded to Grandview Avenue on a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival they observed a vehicle in the roadway with front end damage. They observed a male party across the street looking at the damaged vehicle. The subsequent investigation revealed that the male was the operator of the vehicle. While exiting Route 208 North, he failed to negotiate the curve and struck a retaining wall and a vehicle parked in a driveway. Dustin Coleman, Bloomingdale NJ, age; 32 was placed under arrest and transported into headquarters. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. After processing, he was released to a family member pending a court date. His vehicle was impounded and held for 12 hours under John’s Law.

8-26-2020

On Aug. 26, at approximately 12:00 p.m., P.O. Robert Schlossberg observed a blue Ford Focus travelling on Route 208 North in excess of the posted speed limit. The vehicle was stopped, and the subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Frederick Dombrow III, Franklin Lakes NJ age; 30. He was transported into headquarters and charged with one count of possession of marijuana over 50 grams, and two counts of possession of marijuana under 50 grams, failure to keep right, and having a suspended driver’s license. He was released from headquarters pending a court date.
