Public High Schools Serving Wyckoff Appear On Statewide List

WYCKOFF, NJ — A website meant to help families decide where to live and learn has put Ramapo and Indian Hills High School, serving Wyckoff and several other towns, near the top 100 high schools serving New Jersey teens.

Based on past reviews and data, Ramapo High School landed in the top 50 public high schools, at 48. Indian Hills ranked 106 out of 408.

The Ramapo Indian Hills district has been undergoing some changes this summer. Superintendent Rui Dionisio was hired away earlier this month by the Fair Lawn schools, and will leave in Novemb er.

Meanwhile, four board members voted last month to cancel certain student mental health programs, then quickly reversed themselves after criticism, reports said.

(A new board meeting was slated for Wednesday, Aug. 23, and a Curriculum Changes Public Hearing/Regular Public meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 28.)

Grades And Reviews

Niche.com considered prior data when making its lists and assessments, including reviews from students, parents, and teachers (which can be read on the site). The site grades for things like diversity, college graduation rate, AP courses offered, and clubs.

Ramapo earned an A+ for academics and clubs. Indian Hills earned an A for academics. Both schools earned a C+ for diversity.

Many of the schools at the top of the list were public magnet or regional schools.

In terms of the top 25, Ridgewood and Tenafly High School also made the list, as well as Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, Bergen County Academies, and Bergen County Technical High School.
