Ramapo High School Cheerleaders Win National Championship
National Champions: Ramapo High School Varsity Cheer team competed at the AmeriCheer International Championship in Florida.
The Ramapo High School Varsity Cheer team took first place in the Game Day division of the AmeriCheer International Competitive Cheer championships which was held this past weekend at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The team also placed competitively in the Medium Varsity Mount Show division. In addition, the team also won overall Most Spirited, an award that recognizes spirit and sportsmanship. The team, who has had a successful season, including second place in the Big North division earlier this year, is comprised of 14 girls who train year-round in tumbling, stunting and dance. “I am incredibly proud of the entire team who ended their season on the highest note with a first-place National championship,” stated coach Marissa Imperato. She added, “Most people don’t realize that competitive cheer is a sport with one of the longest seasons, requiring a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication. In addition to training, our team also fundraises in order to support our travel and expenses to Nationals.” This year, RHSVC hosted the second annual Have A Heart event at Ramapo High School which raised significant funds for the team’s trip to Florida.
