'Remembering Our Fallen' Memorial Comes To Bergen County

An opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, recognizing the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and National Veterans and Military Family Month.

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ — Overpeck County Park will host a photographic memorial honoring U.S. Military troops who have died in the years post 9/11, and will celebrate with an opening ceremony this week.

Bergen County will be hosting that ceremony for the national "Remembering Our Fallen" memorial on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Overpeck County Park, located at 199 Challenger Rd. in recognition of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, and in recognition of National Veterans and Military Family Month.

"Remembering Our Fallen" was first displayed on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in September 2017, and has since been displayed throughout the nation, including at Gillette Stadium, the Kansas State Fair and Ohio University.

The memorial consists of 30 tribute towers, each of which is 10-feet high and 5-feet wide. The towers are covered in "military and personal photos of our country’s fallen," the county said.

"Remembering Our Fallen" is an artistic display created by the 501c3, Patriotic Productions. Patriotic Productions was co-founded by husband and wife Bill and Evonne Williams, who have four sons who have served or who currently serve in the military, county officials said.
