Roller Hockey Rink to be Dismantled
Borough to sell off boards and glass from the rink.
The costs to maintain the borough's roller hockey rink outweigh the interest in the sport. At its meeting last week', the council passed a resolution to sell the boards and glass from the rink at last week's meeting.
According to borough officials, the rink needs to be resurfaced, at a cost of $60,000. Meanwhile, interest in the sport has dropped off. There is a Franklin Lakes Rollerhockey Club, but it uses other rinks in the area.
One hitch with selling off the material from the rink is that it was installed using a county open space grant. However, as long as the proceeds go to municipal park improvements, the county told officials they wouldn't have any problem with it.
