Security Upgrades Included in Wyckoff Schools Summer Improvements
The contracts awarded by the board of education Monday also include heating, air conditioning, and technology upgrades.

Wyckoff schools will get a facelift this summer, with the board of education’s approval Monday night of a series of contracts to move forward with infrastructure improvements while students are away on break.
Of the $566,000 in contracts awarded by the board, the largest expense, about $200,000, will go toward making security improvements around the district’s schools.
Citing security concerns, school officials were sparse on the details of the project, but it will involve the installation of surveillance cameras with remote access around the district’s five schools, and include training for staff on using the new technology to keep students safe.

Also among the work slated for the summer is a $155,000 project to update heating and air conditioning throughout the schools. According to business administrator Alan Reiffe, controls to the system have not been functioning properly and require work to update the communication between dials and units.
The district will also invest roughly $180,000 in technology, expanding the schools’ networks and modernizing computer servers. Also included in the summer plans is $65,000 for repainting at the schools.
