Senator Kevin J. O'Toole and LAN Associates honored by Christian Health Care Center

Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff honored Senator Kevin J. O’Toole, R-40, and LAN Associates for their legacy of service, leadership, and commitment to our communities. A Celebration of Excellence was held on Tuesday, October 18, at The Venetian in Garfield. The event was attended by 350 people, including New Jersey State Senator Robert M. Gordon, District 38; Bergen County Committeewoman Darlene Shotmeyer; Hawthorne Mayor Richard Goldberg; and Wyckoff Mayor Kevin Rooney. Representative Scott Garrett, District 5, also attended the event and presented special congressional recognitions to the honorees. The event raised $250,000 to benefit CHCC’s 2016 Annual Fund, which will be used for renovations to The Longview Assisted Living Residence at CHCC.
Each year, Christian Health Care Center holds its A Celebration of Excellence gala, CHCC’s largest fundraising event. While it is not an annual practice to honor individuals or organizations, CHCC has identified and recognized key community leaders for their legacy of service, leadership, and commitment to our communities. The David F. Bolger Award for Service and Leadership was established in 2013, and is presented during A Celebration of Excellence held every fall.
“The David F. Bolger Award is selectively presented to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated exceptional and inspiring levels of leadership, both personally and professionally, and with a level of service that puts others above themselves,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, CHCC President and CEO. “In their own powerful and unique ways, Senator O’Toole and LAN Associates have demonstrated and delivered these qualities without expectation of any recognition. We were so proud to honor their service to countless others with this prestigious award.”

A special tribute video was presented to showcase the honorees’ community service and leadership. Senator O’Toole and Ken Karle, President of LAN Associates, accepted the awards, both giving moving speeches at the gala. John Lacz, LAN founder, also attended A Celebration of Excellence, along with LAN officers and staff.
“Senator O’Toole is someone we can look up to a role model,” said Richard Goldberg, Mayor of Hawthorne. “He’s worked tirelessly serving the people of New Jersey. He’s always fought for better health care and better access to health care.
In praising LAN Associates, Representative Scott Garrett said, “To the people who work at LAN, it’s not just a job. It’s a lot more. It’s actually trying to improve the community and giving back to the community.
