Temple Emanuel Showcases Silent Films

'Actualities' are films depicting real life scenes, such as views of the street and beach scenes

Slices of life in New York City captured in silent film clips from 1896 to 1917 — street scenes, an elevated railroad and Coney Island, among others — will be screened on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. at . The program is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

Temple Emanuel, located at 558 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, across from the Haledon Reservoir and Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve, is a welcoming egalitarian spiritual community affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
