Stop & Shop Sues Bergen County Over Wyckoff Supermarket Plans

Stop & Shop alleges it took Bergen County almost three years to hand over public documents.

Bergen County is being sued by Stop & Shop Supermarket LLC after the county allegedly took nearly three years to give Stop & Shop public documents, which prevented them from appealing the opening of a ShopRite in Wyckofff.

Stop & Shop alleges by the time Bergen County handed over a county engineer’s report on the project, the county’s planning board had already approved the plan to build a ShopRite on land that was previously occupied by Stop & Shop, according to NorthJersey.com. This ultimately hindered Stop & Shop’s ability to appeal ShopRite’s building.

Stop & Shop first asked for the report in July 2011 but did not receive it until this past July 2014.
