Teacher's Aide Assaults Student At Bergen Private School: Prosecutor

Jose D. Garrido allegedly assaulted a student at the YCS George Washington School in Hackensack, authorities said.

A North Jersey man allegedly assaulted a student at private Bergen County school, authorities said.

Jose D. Garrido, 60, was charged with simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child, said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.

Members of the prosecutor’s office Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department investigated a complaint from a parent of a student at the YCS George Washington School in Hackensack that the child had been assaulted, Molinelli said.

Garrido, a teacher’s aide at the school, was arrested as a result of the investigation, authorities said.

Garrido’s bail was set at $20,000 with no 10 percent option. He is to have no contact with the alleged victim as a condition of bail. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail, Molinelli said.
