USDEA Congratulates Wyckoff PD for 'National Drug Take Back' Efforts

Wyckoff submitted the highest total pounds of medication in Bergen County.

Approximately 290 Wyckoff residents dropped off more than 215 lbs of medication on Sept. 27 as Wyckoff participated in the United States Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) program, the National Drug Take Back Initiative, which allowed residents to drop-off unused or expired prescription and over the counter medicine at the Wyckoff Police Department.

Wyckoff submitted the highest total pounds of medication collected in the program in Bergen County and the USDEA congratulated the Wyckoff Police Department for their efforts to promote resident participation in the program.

Since 2010, the Wyckoff police department has participated five times in the program and has collected over 1,635 pounds of unused or expired prescription medicine or over the counter medicine that has been safely disposed.

The DEA incinerates the collected medicine and the prescription container, protecting any personal information on the label.

The Township Committee extends its thanks to residents who participated in this event and requests that residents continue to recycle and participate in the Township’s Nifty Fifty program to reduce the amount of household garbage placed at the curb by identifying recyclables to place in the user friendly single stream recycling curbside collection.
