Woman Killed By NJ Transit Train In Bergen County

A woman was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Bergen County on Sunday, the agency said.

RAMSEY, NJ — A woman was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Bergen County on Sunday morning, the agency said.

The train, which was heading from Port Jervis, N.Y. to Hoboken, fatally struck the woman around 10:49 a.m., said an agency spokesperson.
The woman was struck just west of the Main Street crossing in Ramsey near the main Ramsey station, the agency said.
A spokesperson said that 150 riders and employees were on board, but none of them were injured.
Rail service was suspended in both directions between Allendale and Port Jervis, then resumed in the afternoon with delays.

NJ Transit police are leading the investigation, the agency said.

The agency had not identified the victim as of Monday.
