Bergen Porsche Thief Arrested After Hitting Ambulance: State Police

An Essex County man hit an ambulance in a luxury car he stole from Bergen County, state police said.

NEWARK, NJ — An Essex County man hit an ambulance in a luxury car he stole from Bergen County, state police said.

Early Sunday morning, troopers were searching for a Porsche Cayenne that was reported stolen from Wyckoff. State police got a tip the driver may be on I-280 near First Street in Newark.

Police spotted the car at the intersection of Lyons Avenue and Fabyan Place, state police said. The driver saw the patrol car and went into the intersection, hitting an ambulance with its lights and sirens on, police said.

Police arrested the driver, 18-year-old Tyquan Black of Irvington.

Black was charged with receiving stolen property, assault by auto, eluding, obstruction, and criminal mischief.

State police said no life-threatening injuries were reported.
