Wyckoff To Expand Local Blue Laws

New rules would change what can be sold on Sundays.

WYCKOFF, NJ - The Township Committee will vote on repealing its blue laws ordinance in favor of one that is more consistent with state and county regulations.

A new ordinance expanding the definition of what would be permitted to be sold on Sundays was introduced Dec. 1.

The township’s current ordinance prohibits businesses from selling merchandise on Sundays, except “drugs, meals, food, argicultural and horticultural products not including hardware or equipment, non-alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products.”

Milk and dairy products, newspapers, gas, hygiene products, stationery supplies, and real estate will continue to be allowed to be sold.

State law prohibits the sale of clothing, building and lumber supplies, furniture, and appliances.

A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
