Wyckoff Installs 3 New Lightning Detection Systems

The new systems were installed at Memorial Field, Community Park and Pulis Field. Here's what to know.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Three new lightning detection devices have been installed at fields and parks in the township as part of an effort to enhance fan, player and coach safety, officials said.

The new devices are installed at Memorial Field, Community Park and Pulis Field. According to officials, the systems can detect when lightning strikes eight miles away or closer, and will sound an alarm so that fields can be cleared.

As for how that will affect gameplay, officials said there will be a 30-minute waiting period from the last lightning strike before play can resume.
