Wyckoff Man Burned During House Fire

David M. Browne, 55, was found outside his Wyckoff Avenue home Tuesday, police said.

A Wyckoff man was found burned and lying on the ground outside his Wyckoff Avenue home Tuesday, authorities said.

The fire at 380 Wyckoff Ave. was reported at 2:44 p.m. police said.

Patrolmen Kyle Ferreira and Michael Flim were the first at the scene and found the detached garage ”fully engulfed in flames,” said Chief Benjamin Fox.

David M. Browne, 55, was found lying outside the garage burned, Fox said. The Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Browne to Hackensack University Medical Center.

Fox said he did not think the burns were life-threatening.

The Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire, which destroyed the garage and the items inside it but not the house, Fox said.

The Bergen County Arson Investigation Unit is looking into what caused the fire.
