Wyckoff Man Charged In $2K Theft Of Wiring, Police Say
After police responded to the third recent report of a copper wire theft on Route 17 in Bergen County, they made one arrest.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 59-year-old Wyckoff man was charged with burglary, theft, and possession of burglary tools after allegedly stealing $2,000 worth of metal-clad wiring in Paramus, police said.
The Paramus police say that on Monday, Nov. 27, they responded to 75 North State Highway 17 in reference to overnight copper wire thefts. They said this was the third copper wire theft from this location this month.
After the second theft, a surveillance system was installed, said Chief Robert Guidetti.

On Monday, according to police, Detective Nicholas Luciano responded to the scene and reviewed surveillance video.
He saw a man using a hammer to smash the padlock off a storage room door, enter the room, and remove $2,000 worth of metal-clad wire and $500 worth of Thermoplastic high-heat resistant nylon-coated wire, police said.

Luciano "recognized the suspect from previous encounters," police said, identifying him as Lovell.
Lovell was taken to the Bergen County Jail and awaits his first appearance, said police.
