Wyckoff Patrolman Promoted To Sergeant
Mark Tagliareni is an 18-year veteran of the Wyckoff Police Department.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Patrolman Mark Tagliareni was promoted to sergeant at a Township Committee meeting Wednesday.
Tagliareni was sworn in by Mayor Kevin Rooney, his family at his side.
"This promotion was earned with hard work, dedication, and complete understanding of what it means to be a leader and a public servant," Rooney said. "I have personally witnessed the leadership qualities Mark has displayed over the past couple of years."

Tagliareni is an 18-year veteran of the police department. He has earned several academic degrees, including a master's in education. He has received numerous awards while on the force, including from Mother's Against Drunk Driving.
"It's people like Mark who make Wyckoff such a great place to live, work, and raise a family," Rooney said. "I know sergeant Tagliareni will continue to proudly serve the residents of Wyckoff with the same professionalism and valor he has displayed over his entire career."

Tagliareni's promotion comes at a tumultuous time for the department as it deals with the ramifications of a state investigation regarding a letter Chief Benjamin Fox wrote in December 2014 advocating racial profiling.
