Two Charged With Receiving Stolen Property

On November 18 at approximately 12:00 PM, P.O. Robert Schlossberg was on patrol when he observed a silver Dodge Durango parked behind a UPS truck making a delivery on Godwin Avenue. Knowing that package thieves will often follow delivery trucks and then steal the packages from doorsteps after they are delivered, he observed the occupants of the Durango. He saw the female passenger approach the UPS driver and speak with him. Upon observing the patrol car, the female quickly returned to the Durango and the vehicle drove away. P.O. Schlossberg spoke with the UPS driver who advised him that the female inquired about a package being delivered to a Meadowbrook Road address. P.O. Schlossberg located the Durango on Crescent Avenue and stopped it. The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrests of Roseanny Nunez, Bronx NY, age; 30 and Rafael Evangelista Toribio, Jersey City NJ, age 32. They were transported into headquarters where Nunez was charged with receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking, possession of personal information for a fraudulent purpose, and possessing a false government document ID as proof of identity. Evangelista-Toribio was charged with receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking. Evidence recovered from the investigation connected Nunez and Evangelista-Toribio to similar crimes in Old Bridge, NJ and Summit, NJ. Those police agencies were notified and provided with information necessary to further investigate their crimes. After processing, the pair was released from headquarters pending a court date.
