Wyckoff Receives Prestigious Traffic Safety Award
It is the 11th time in the past 13 years the township has received the award from AAA.

WYCKOFF, N.J. — Township has received the Award of Excellence from AAA for its efforts to promote traffic safety for the 11th time in 13 years.
Wyckoff was one of only 11 municipalities of nearly 100 in North Jersey to receive the award this year, said Police Chief David Murphy.
"Wyckoff truly believes in the three E's philosophy in traffic safety: Education, enforcement, and engineering," Murphy said in a statement. "The police department continues to look for news ways to improve traffic safety within the township utilizing all three principles."

The township has a multi-prong safety program that includes:
- Posting safe driving information and public service announcements to residents via email, Facebook, and Twitter weekly.
- Strict enforcement of speed limits and a law that requires motorists to stop for people in crosswalks.
- Repainting road markings and school crosswalks annually.
- Prohibiting left turns on Monroe Avenue and Franklin Avenue at certain high-traffic time periods.
Murphy periodically issues public service announcements that address pedestrian safety, speed limits, back-to-school and Halloween safety, among other topics.

Police officers also demonstrate safe bicycle etiquette, inspect child car safety seats, create safe traffic patterns around schools, and provide school crossing guards with hand-held flashing stop signs.
