Wyckoff School Offers Message Of Hope At 3R’s Day

WYCKOFF, NJ — Students at Eisenhower Middle School will learn about another three R’s of education — respect, reflect and resiliency — at a special day there Oct. 23.

Nearly 30 speakers will address middle-schoolers on a variety of topics throughout the day.

Some speakers include:

• Mark Barden, who’s son, Daniel, was killed in the Sandy Hook shooting.
• Rwanda genocide survivor Eugenie Mukeshimana
• 9/11 first-responder and firefighter Joe Torillo
• Jeannie Smith, daughter of a World War II Righteous Gentile
• Mariela Shaker, a Syrian refugee
• Jeffrey Veatch, whose 16-year-old son died of a heroin overdose

Small group discussions will be held throughout the day. The opening assembly is at 8:15 a.m. where Sarah Panzau will discuss the dangers of drunk driving. Scott Chesney, author of “Dream, Believe and Work To Achieve,” will close the day at 1:15 p.m.
