Wyckoff Teen Nearly Crashes Into Cop Helping Elderly Driver: Cops

17-year-old girl was charged with possession of marijuana.

WYCKOFF, NJ - A township teenager was charged with possession of marijuana after she nearly crashed into a police officer who was helping an elderly driver on the side of the road.

Patrolman Kyle Ferreira and his car were stopped on the side of Wyckoff Avenue at midnight Saturday helping an elderly driver, police Chief Benjamin C. Fox said. A vehicle came up behind the patrolman’s car and swerved at the last second to avoid a crash.

The vehicle stopped on Cedar Hill Avenue and Patrolman Ferreira smelled marijuana coming from it, Fox said.

The driver, a 17-year-old Wyckoff girl was were arrested, Fox said.

The girl was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics paraphernalia for having glass marijuana pipes and a marijuana grinder, possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle, improper passing, careless driving, and possession of fraudulent identification.
