Here are the top 3 stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. On Wednesday, three hikers were rescued from deep snow on La Luz Trail. When the Albuquerque Police Department Open Space arrived, it was about 20-degrees and the hikers' boots and pants were frozen to their bodies. The APD crew was in the area training, if they weren't, the hikers would likely have become hypothermic. (KRQE News 13)
  2. Two people were arrested in Utah for an Albuquerque murder that happened in 2020. Police say Breon Lamont Kindred, 28, allegedly shot Lavon King over an alleged stolen bike. Kindred spotted King on the bike on Pennsylvania near Zuni and shot him, police say. (KRQE News 13)
  3. On Wednesday, a decomposed body was found near a ditch bank in northwest Albuquerque, police say. Homicide detectives believe the body has been in the area — behind a home on Dietz Farm Road NW, near Montaño and Rio Grande — for a "significant time" based on decomposition. The identity of the body is still unknown. (KOB)
