Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. Restoration Pizza has been serving pizza to the Albuquerque community since 2019 with an inclusive business model. The restaurant's employees are from support employment agencies as well as walk-ins. The owner, Nathan Winham, employs individuals with disabilities whether they are documented or not. "Individuals with disabilities are highly underrepresented in the job force and ... if you're going to be an equal employment place, why not truly be equal employment?" Winham said. Restoration Pizza's training process is also unique in the sense that it caters to those with disabilities. (KOAT New Mexico)
  2. An Albuquerque mother and her two children are shaken after being shot at while in their car on their way to the state fair on Wednesday. The man in the car in front of them shot at their car three times without any prior interaction. The unprovoked shots hit their tire, bumper, and radiator. Although physically uninjured, the family is struggling with the after-effects of this unexplained encounter. (KOB)
  3. The Albuquerque Police Department is seeking information about a shooting victim, a woman in her 20s, who was dropped off at Presbyterian Hospital early Monday morning and later died at UNM Hospital. (KOB)
  4. Three neighborhood associations on Tuesday asked a zoning examiner to reject the city's request to use a former Southeast Albuquerque hospital as an overnight shelter, claiming the city has provided insufficient outreach and details about the project and its impact. (Albuquerque Journal)
  5. Remote control hot air balloons will be showcased during the upcoming 49th Balloon Fiesta and are expected to impress spectators. (KRQE News 13)
