🌱 ABQ Ride Zero Fares + One-Time Vaccine Event + City Council
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Albuquerque.
Happy Tuesday, Albuquerque! Here's everything you need to know going on locally today.
First, today's weather:
Breezy in the morning; cloudy. High: 46 Low: 33.
Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:
- ABQ's zero bus fare pilot program will begin next week, on Jan. 1. The ABQ Ride Zero Fares program is an idea that's been tossed around in City Council for a while, starting with City Councilor Pat Davis, and is intended to encourage more people to ride public transportation. In preparation for the program launch, the city will be paying for ten more transit security officers, on top of the roughly forty they have now, in order to address any potential security issues. (KRQE News 13)
- A free, one-time vaccine event will take place at the Westside Community Center on Tuesday, Dec. 28. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will have the capacity to administer about 550 adult doses (primary and booster) of the Pfizer vaccine. No identification or insurance is necessary as COVID-19 vaccines are free to the public. (KRQE News 13)
- Albuquerque City Council is seeing its largest election turnover in 20 years. On Saturday, four new Albuquerque city councilors are set to take their oaths of office. Both the current and newly elected members are hopeful that despite some deep ideological differences between all nine counselors, this will be a fresh start for both the city and the council. (KSFR)
