The first award received by the APS Finance Department was an Association of School Business Officials International Certificate of Excellence in Finance Reporting for the fiscal year ending June 2019. This award represents a significant achievement and reflects their commitment to transparency and high-quality financial reporting. Applicants submit their finance report for review by a team of financial professionals. A district’s participation in the Certificate of Excellence program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.

The Finance Department also received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended June 2020. The report was judged by an impartial panel who determined it met the high standards including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.
