1. Mobile Food Pantry Returns This Fall With Four Additional Dates (cabq.gov) — Albuquerque residents can access free food from Roadrunner Food Bank at Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center on four Friday afternoons from September through December 2026. The Mobile Food Pantry, run with the city's Department of Senior Affairs, offers extra support heading into the holidays and connects older adults with additional local services and programs.
2. Albuquerque City Council approves $40 million hotel project in Sawmill District (koat.com) — Albuquerque's City Council has approved a $40 million, 135-room chain hotel for the Sawmill District, using a 20-year taxable industrial revenue bond. Supporters say it will add much-needed, affordable downtown lodging, while nearby residents worry about traffic, building height, and neighborhood impacts as details and timelines are still being finalized.
3. Albuquerque road rage incident caught on video under investigation (kob.com) — Albuquerque police are investigating a violent road rage clash near Wyoming and Constitution in the Northeast Heights, after a viral video showed a bat-wielding driver and a retaliatory crash. Officers say they've logged at least 35 road rage reports this year, including four deadly cases, prompting locals to urge drivers to stay calm and avoid confrontations.
4. New Mexico U.S. Rep. Stansbury touts housing law during Albuquerque visit • Source New Mexico (sourcenm.com) — A visit to a transitional housing facility on Albuquerque's West Side gave Rep. Melanie Stansbury a backdrop to explain a new bipartisan federal housing law she says will ease New Mexico's housing crunch. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act limits big investors' home purchases, loosens rules for affordable construction, and expands aid for veterans, tribes, and rehab programs statewide.
5. Las Vegas woman receives $1.5M in state settlement over alleged police rape (kob.com) — A $1.5 million state settlement over an alleged rape by a then–New Mexico State Police officer has renewed scrutiny because that officer is now employed by Albuquerque Public Schools. Prosecutors dropped criminal charges in 2023, and APS says his background check was clear, but the victim's attorney and lingering questions about safety and oversight leave parents awaiting further answers from the district.
