The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Albuquerque.

Hey, people of Albuquerque! It's me again, Erica Zenn, your host of the Albuquerque Daily.

First, today's weather:

Times of clouds and sun. High: 57 Low: 34.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. The Bernalillo County Animal Care and Resource Center is short-staffed, 200 percent over capacity, and asking for your help. Throughout the month of January, they will be offering free pet adoptions in the hopes that the number of animals available decreases. They are also hiring for multiple positions. From adorable labrador retrievers to fabulous felines, there are animals available to fit any family lifestyle and you can view them all on this website. (KRQE News 13)
  2. The Albuquerque Police Department is currently investigating a report of shots fired outside Valley High School during a basketball game Tuesday night. The school was placed on lockdown as police ensured there were no injuries. There were casings found in the parking lot. The incident is currently under investigation. (KRQE News 13)
  3. Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller announced on Tuesday that by Jan. 21, all city employees must report their vaccination status. By Feb. 7, any employee who is still unvaccinated will have to submit for weekly testing and provide a negative result to continue working. Medical exemptions for the vaccine are accepted, but those who submit them will still be subjected to the weekly testing. Anyone unvaccinated who refuses testing will be removed and put on unpaid leave. (KOAT New Mexico)
