🌱 'Be The Match' For A Child + Local Ukrainians Speak Out

Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. A local business is helping a child in Pennsylvania find his bone marrow match. YHWH Health and Fitness on San Mateo is hosting a "Be the Match" event this Sunday, Mar. 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Attendees can get swabbed to discover if they're a match for 7-year-old Jax Ramirez; even if they don't match, they can still join the national registry. All who participate will also be entered into raffles for yoga classes, works by local artists, and more. (KRQE News 13)
  2. A retired professor at the University of New Mexico hosted a community forum on campus Thursday night, with the goal of supporting people in Ukraine. The "Voices of Ukraine: Know Our Spirit - Hear Our Needs" event was designed to spread information and mobilize the community to help. Three local women originally from Ukraine spoke about their home country, sharing their stories as well as resources to help those in need. (KOB)
  3. Two foster parents in Albuquerque are accused of abusing the three children under their care. Sara Millsaps and Morgan Cleary both face charges of child abuse after each of the children separately reported they were subjected to corporal punishment; the parents have been summoned to court next month. According to the Children Youth and Family Department, the children are currently safe and in the care of someone else in the department. (KRQE News 13)
