Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:
- A child predator was sentenced to 57 years in prison on Monday. Jordan Padilla was arrested last year after his girlfriend found child porn on his tablet and called the police. Padilla was convicted of child abuse, rape and possessing and manufacturing child pornography. After sentencing, 2nd Judicial District Court Judge Cindy Leos also ordered him to pay restitution to his victims. (KRQE News 13)
- Two mothers are taking a proactive approach when it comes to gun violence in the Duke City.Nicole Chavez and Angel Alire both lost their sons to violent gun acts. As the number of violent homicides increases in the Albuquerque, Chavez and Alire say things need to change. From stricter guns laws to more education for younger generations. (KOAT Albuquerque)
- La Mesa Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque is in need of volunteers to help with this year's Thanksgiving Day feast. The church will deliver about 600 meals and make another 400 Thanksgiving meals for people to pick up at the church. (KRQE News 13)
- Parents and young children will find a special treat when they open the Albuquerque Journal on Thanksgiving Day. A bilingual book, "Charles Reads/Carlos Lee," written in English and Spanish, will be inserted to provide families with a little something extra to do together this holiday weekend. - There's a debate over whether or not to maintain APD's lowest-tech part of the city's airborne policing fleet, the Air 5, a 1981 Cessna Skylane. (KOB)
