Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. A crash killed a pedestrian on the Northeast side of Albuquerque on Wednesday. Police are conducting an investigation but initial analysis appears to show that alcohol and speed were not factors in the fatality. (KRQE News 13)
  2. On Wednesday morning, Rio Grande High School had to shelter in place. The school district reports that the shelter in place warning was issued by the Albuquerque Police Department in response to an investigation. The order lasted for roughly fifteen minutes and no additional details were released to the public. (Albuquerque Patch)
  3. The City of Albuquerque is seeking to remove murals in Old Town. The murals, completed last year, were painted by artists Jodie Herrera and Reyes Padilla. The paintings depicting cascading colors, shapes, butterflies, and cacti were commissioned by business owners in Plaza Don Luis. According to the city, the murals do not comply with guidelines meant to preserve the character and culture of Old Town. (KUNM)
