Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:
- The case against the accused burglar police say was found sleeping in a woman's bed is on hold while the court evaluates his competency. Martin Copeland has been arrested three times in the last three months, most recently for a break-in in October. According to the order, Copeland's behavior in court was "unusual" and he seemed to have trouble understanding his attorney's advice. (KRQE News 13)
- Less than 24 hours after election results began pouring in, both Eddy Aragon and Sheriff Manny Gonzales are back to work. Aragon told KOAT he plans to run again. As for Gonzales, he is back to leading the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, working alongside city and county officials, as well as Mayor Tim Keller. (KOAT New Mexico)
- The Albuquerque City Council approved a ground lease and development agreement with Amazon. Amazon's agreement with the City of Albuquerque's Aviation Department allows the company to develop an air cargo facility at the Sunport.(KOB)
- In just a few weeks, the City of Albuquerque will be cracking down on its plastic bag ban.(KOB)
- Albuquerque Public Schools paid a settlement to a mother who was badly beaten by the parents of the teen accused in the Washington Middle School shooting. (KRQE News 13)
