Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. New Mexico dairy farmers can now seek reimbursement from the federal government for expenses related to groundwater contamination around an eastern New Mexico Air Force base. A pathway through the Dairy Indemnity Payment Program has been created due to a rule change by the Department of Agriculture. The state sued the Air Force in 2019 over "forever chemicals" emitted during military firefighting efforts that can remain in the human body for years. (KRQE News 13)
  2. Dave and Buster's announced that it is purchasing Main Event through an $835 million deal. Both companies have locations in the Albuquerque area. There is currently no statement on whether or not customers will experience a change in services at either of the locations. (KRQE News 13)
  3. Albuquerque's BioPark Zoo reports that no avian flu has been detected in any of its bird species. The announcement has been made at a time when zoos across the country are temporarily closing public access to their bird exhibits in response to a highly pathogenic avian influenza. Transmission of the avian flu to humans is infrequent but possible, according to the CDC. (Albuquerque Journal)
