Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:
- A California-based startup has announced its intent to build a manufacturing plant in Albuquerque to power passenger jets with hydrogen. The company has announced that the plant will employ 500 people within seven years. Universal Hydrogen's stated goal is to decarbonize aviation. (Santa Fe New Mexican)
- Drug manufacturer Curia announced plans to expand its production capabilities in Albuquerque by building a 65,000-square-foot expansion at the Alexander Boulevard facility. The expanded manufacturing will support a high-speed fill-finish vial line to increase the United States' demand for injectable medicines. Curia currently employs roughly 400 people in the Albuquerque area. (The Business Journals)
- The Albuquerque City Council has voted to reverse the expansion of the mayor's emergency powers. The mayor's powers were expanded at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to order road closures for mass gatherings, cancel city events and reallocate budget items. The council voted 5-4 to reverse the emergency powers. (KOB)
