Here are the top 3 stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. John Hyde, who police say went on a killing spree in Albuquerque in 2005, was back before a judge this week. Every two years, a judge conducts a competency hearing to determine if Hyde is able to stand trial. He was originally ruled incompetent and was sent to a state mental hospital, where he'll stay for life unless deemed competent. (KRQE News 13)
  2. Albuquerque Public Schools are dealing with an abundance of absent students. More than 10,000 students or around 1-in-7 students were absent on Thursday because of issues related to COVID. (KOB)
  3. The FBI is looking for a person they say robbed an Albuquerque credit union on Thursday. At about 4:55 p.m., police were called to the First Financial Credit Union on San Mateo Blvd. The unknown man received an undisclosed amount of money and left. (KRQE News 13)
