Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:
- An Albuquerque man is facing several charges after being accused of raping six different children. Anthony Padilla, 30-years-old, is accused of raping children from two separate families and is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque. Padilla also allegedly gave five of the children a sexually transmitted disease. (Santa Fe New Mexican)
- A Northeast Heights café has temporarily closed its doors following a blaze that broke out overnight. The fire started in the cafe's washroom and surprisingly stayed contained due to the nature of the building's design. Despite the fire's containment, the Burrow Cafe needs to be repaired after extensive smoke and soot damage. (KRQE News 13)
- Bernalillo County's accounts payable department lost $447,372 to a fraudulent county vendor in 2019 via an email scam. The fraudster has been caught and identified as Oscar Ngeno, a Kenyan national in the U.S. on an immigrant visa. Ngeno has been charged with 11 counts of felony wire fraud and faces up to 20 years in federal prison for each count. (Albuquerque Journal)
