Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. The City of Albuquerque works to make Barelas Community Center a historical landmark. The center was built between 1941 and 1942 during the Great Depression. If the City Council approves the historical landmark status, the center will be added to a list of more than 20 other historical landmarks in Albuquerque. (KRQE News 13)
  2. The Albuquerque Police Department has issued an arrest for William Barry. He is wanted in connection to seven commercial burglaries throughout the Albuquerque region. Barry was caught conducting surveillance at a business near Menaul and Interstate 25 which has lead to charges being issued. (KRQE News 13)
  3. Four new deputy chiefs were named during an Albuquerque Fire Rescue promotion ceremony on Monday. The new deputy chiefs are Kris Romero, Kevin Ferando, Santos Garcia, and Jimmy Melek. The ceremony held at the Sid Cutter pavilion also promoted 70 other crew members to new positions. (Albuquerque Journal)

  • Artist Jeff Mets has produced two new sculptures for the city of Albuquerque. The sculptures are currently in front of the One Central Building. (Instagram)
