First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 55 Low: 30.

Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. One of Albuquerque's largest malls has defaulted on a $105 million dollar loan. Court records show that the Cottonwood Mall ownership defaulted on a loan that was taken out from a United States bank in 2014 but there is no indication that the mall's doors will close. The Cottonwood Mall has been open since 1996 but has seen decreased traffic as part of a global trend towards online shopping. (KOAT New Mexico)
  2. An Albuquerque family's dog was shot and killed on Valentine's Day in a morning shooting. According to authorities, no suspects have been identified due to a lack of eyewitnesses, video, or photos of the incident. The Padilla family is currently mourning the loss of their beloved dog Chance. (KRQE News 13)
  3. The Albuquerque Police Department is currently investigating a Friday morning homicide. According to authorities, they responded to 57th and Iliff Road to discover a man bleeding out in the middle of the street. Homicide detectives with the department are currently investigating the case. (KOAT New Mexico)
