Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:
- A new report filed by the Veteran's Administration is calling for a significant investment in Albuquerque Veterans Administration Medical Center and recommends closing four health clinics in rural New Mexico. The report wants the investment to be focused on the center's hospice, spinal, dental, women's, and surgical departments with efforts to modernize the services they provide. The four health clinics the report recommends to be closed are in Gallup, Las Vegas, Raton, and Española. (KUNM)
- Albuquerque's Garfield Middle School entered into a shelter-in-place plan due to police activity occurring in the area. The Albuquerque Police Department was responding to an incident involving an individual that barricaded themselves in a stolen vehicle on Thursday. The incident was near the school so it triggered the shelter in place. Additional information has not been released at this time. (KOAT New Mexico)
- The Albuquerque Good Shepherd Center hosted its 71st St. Patrick's Day Celebration on Thursday. The event was a virtual program broadcasted on the center's social media accounts and website. Mayor Keller gave a speech and a silent auction took place benefiting the shelter. (KOB)
