Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:
- The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit and run near the airport. Police report a gray older model sedan fled the scene, and the pedestrian died there. It is unknown if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Further details are unknown at this time. (KRQE News 13)
- An arrest warrant was issued for an Albuquerque man in the fatal shooting of a man and his service dog. The warrant sought 22-year-old, Xavier Marquez on charges of killing Shawn Lynch, wounding Lynch's dog and firing a shot that went into a nearby home. According to the criminal complaint, witnesses told investigators that Lynch was walking his dog on a street and headed for a friend's house where they encountered Marquez as he sat in a truck. The complaint said Marquez got out of the truck and yelled at the dog before shooting the animal and Lynch. (U.S. News & World Report)
- An Albuquerque family suspects construction workers stole his life savings while repairing their home after an incident that occurred earlier in the year. (KOB)
- A mother continues to search for her missing daughter who was last seen in Albuquerque in March of 2020. (KOB)
- A nonprofit serving the immigrant community moves into its new home on 4th Street, where it can expand its services to New Mexican families. (KRQE News 13)
