Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:
- An Albuquerque man is hoping to highlight Indigenous chefs with a new speaker series through his non-profit. The non-profit IndigeNOW has been working to create unique cultural experiences from artisan gatherings to multi-day festivals since 1994. IndigeNOW has a vision to bring a new kind of indigenous culinary festival and trade show to New Mexico. (KRQE News 13)
- On Sunday, Albuquerque's mayoral candidates took the debate stage one last time before the election. Last week, Manny Gonzales accused mayor Tim Keller of adultery and domestic violence, but current Mayor Tim Keller, BCSO Sheriff Manny Gonzales, and radio host Eddy Aragon were more professional Sunday. The Congregation Albert Brotherhood hosted the debate – that covered the notorious and obvious issues in Albuquerque: homelessness, the crime crisis, and 911 response times. All three candidates found common ground on one topic – COVID-19 vaccine mandates. (KOB)
- Providing a community that supports individuals battling breast cancer along with their caregivers, the Pink Warrior House Foundation offers support groups, art therapy, yoga, meditation, mindfulness classes, and much more. (KRQE News 13)
- The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta filed a lawsuit against a Tennessee nonprofit regarding their similarly-named ballooning event. (KOB)
- The City of Albuquerque is now admitting that the number three guy in charge at city hall violated policy when he failed to report a minor crash to Albuquerque police. (KOAT New Mexico)
