Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. Street racers have reportedly been facing few consequences when caught by police in Albuquerque. In 2021, law enforcement in Bernalillo County issued 57 citations for drag racing, street racing, or what is called exhibition driving, according to court records. As it stands, city code states the maximum punishment is three months in jail and a maximum $500 fine for street racers, and if it's on a state highway, state law says the penalty could be up to a year in jail. 2. Saturday's Martin Luther King Jr. march in Albuquerque has been postponed due to COVID-19 cases. Although the event is being postponed, a Federal Emergency Management Agency bus will still be at Civic Plaza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to administer vaccines and on-site COVID-19 testing. At this time, no new date has been announced. (KRQE News 13)
