- This was the 30th year of "Treecycling" in Albuquerque and more than 2,000 people utilized the service this year. For two weeks every year, The City of Albuquerque's Solid Waste Department, Parks and Rec, and PNM come together and mulch Christmas trees for free after the holiday season. - An Albuquerque start-up company earned national recognition in December after its founder, Trish Lopez, was named an "Influencer in Aging." The start-up "Teeniors" matches teenagers with seniors who need assistance operating a smartphone, computer, or other tech-related devices. The company has helped more than 4,000 seniors with technology-related questions and concerns since its creation in 2015. (Albuquerque Journal)
