Here are the top stories in Albuquerque today:
- Incumbent Tim Keller will serve a second term as Albuquerque mayor. Keller beat Bernalillo County Sheriff Manny Gonzales and radio host Eddy Aragon. Keller celebrated the victory with supporters at Hotel Albuquerque. (KOB)
- The City of Albuquerque is expanding its plastic bag ban. Starting next month, those thicker plastic bags that many stores started using when the ban first took effect last year, will also be prohibited. The ban does not impact restaurants or fast food venues that offer take-out options. The new rule goes into effect on Dec. 1. (KRQE News 13)
- Former City Councilor Dan Lewis, who served District 5 from 2009 to 2017, has won over incumbent Cynthia Borrego, flipping that seat conservative. Meanwhile, in District 1, another incumbent, Lan Sena, lost to conservative Democrat Louie Sanchez. (KRQE News 13)
- Albuquerque police are investigating the 109th homicide for the city. (KOAT New Mexico)
- In 2021, Balloon Fiesta saw 783,866 guests, compared to about 866,414 guests in 2019. (KRQE News 13)
